Goodbye, T Burberry

I just read about some really really sad news! Thomas burberry is closing because of the economic downturn, and that's just bullshit. I mean, I love thomas burberry, it's a really cool brand. It's young and the style is classic, but special. Fortunately, Thomas Burberry will present a a/w 09/10 collection, maybe there is still hope . Here is an article from British Vogue.

Burberry Bites
20 January 2009, 01:12PM

AS Burberry today announces a 9 per cent rise to £329 million in underlying sales for the three months to December 31, the group has unveiled a series of dramatic initiatives - such as axing its underperforming Thomas Burberry line - to help buoy it through the economic downturn.

A slow down in Christmas trade saw like-for-like sales fall 3 per cent during the period, while licensing revenue fell 8 per cent - although retail revenue for the company as a whole climbed 12 per cent, to £95 million, and wholesale, 8 per cent.

The upshot of the performance has prompted the group to implement a series of "cost efficiencies", which will see 290 jobs cut in the UK as the label closes its sewing factory in Rotherham, Yorkshire, and aims to save around £50 million by shuttering its Thomas Burberry line - putting a further 250 jobs in Spain in question.

"Revenue at Burberry increased by 9 per cent at constant currency in what remained challenging and volatile markets. There was an improved retail performance in December, albeit with continuing pressure on gross margin," noted Burberry ceo Angela Ahrendts. "As we continue to evolve our business model, we have today announced further cost efficiencies."

"These are enabled in part by the investments we have previously made in supply chain, IT and infrastructure. These savings, coupled with our proven strategies, strong brand perception and conservative balance sheet position us to trade through the current difficult environment and emerge even stronger when the global economy recovers."

The news comes just two days after creative director Christopher Bailey presented a well-received menswear collection for autumn/winter 2009-10 in Milan.

The group's chief financial officer Stacey Cartwright added that, in plainer terms, while customers were still willing to spend on classic items such as the Burberry trench or a luxury handbag, there were simply fewer of them coming through the doors.

"It's not a pricing question in the current climate," she tells today's Daily Telegraph. "It's footfall, and that consumers are cutting back on the amount they buy."

Like a COVER-cover.

Two of my friends, Jacque and Malou has made these pics together - they are the models, the stylists and the photographers. I especially love the one of Jacque with the ribbon. So fashionable with the pic effect, the american T-shirt and the big, big ring. The pics of Malou is so, so great too. The combination of a large, white shirt and all the jewels and stuff is too chic. The pics was taken a few days ago.
I was celebrating New Years Eve with Jacque and Malou and my best friend, Clara too. It was really nice. Of course we drunk too much champagne, but it was fun . It's always nice to get drunk, isn't it? Especially in champagne, my favourite drink..

Fashion spread in Eurowoman December 08

This is two pictures of a fashion spread in December 08 Eurowoman. One of my good friends know the model, and she says that she's only fourteen years old! And 170 cm. That's impossible to see in the fashion spread. I love the hair and the leather socks from By malene birger (pic). It's really grunge inspired, and that's okay, I just think that we'd seen enough "luxury grunge" for this season. A lot of designers like gucci and d&g made luxury grunge-inspired clothes. But when the model takes the first step up to the runway, it's already in the past, right ? And the magazines (or the danish ones, wtf) is just writing about it all the time.. What about trying something new? Please..

girl of the moment

girl of the moment
Right now, my style is all about Mary-Kate. She's so fantastic in her way of dressing. She's so famous but sometimes she wear nylon tights full of holes and teased hair and still looks like an it-girl. She looks amazing, not tatty. And the smoke.. the smoke does it all.
